Fine Art Incense Vase
A very special moment of self expression and design forever physically instilled in the life of this one of a kind piece.
Inspired by the true foundation of what drives design for studio sontosis, that is moments of calm in everyday rituals, this piece truly embodies the sentiment of self care and slowing down.
I love rituals, as we all know, but even more so I love the ritual of burning incense. I see it as a temporary immersive art experience. A time to be moved through the artistry of fragrance, a timed experience that only last for a few minutes allowing the user to really be present and in the moment.
I was burning my favorite incense cones one day and realized, how can I elevate this experience even more, and this inspired the idea of the incense vase. Adding just a few more steps to the routine of burning, just to make the process a bit more immersive and methodical.
This piece was designed to look like a vase in it’s form, but crafted to provide an extra function on top of its beauty. The whimsical hand painted forms on the surface explores the love for organic shapes, and slow painting that is a favorite new surface decoration of mine to explore.
